Product Details
Annwyl is a semicircular shawl worked in stripes overlaid with a double cable motif edged by a lace mesh that gives a flower shape to the design. The lace is also worked in stripes and uses slipped stitches to blend the stripes into an open mesh. It is constructed of nine wedges radiating out from the starting point and gradually widening.
The design is inspired by a gorgeous pair of skeins from the magical Welsh landscape of Pembrokeshire where Posh Yarnoriginates. Annwyl is a Welsh word meaning beloved or cherished, chosen by Dee of Posh Yarns.
The cable design is inspired by one of Devorgilla’s beautiful Celtic knots.
This design is ideal for a pair of solid or semi-solid fingering weight yarn, with either wild contrast for bold lines or gentle contrast for a softer effect.
The pattern is charted only, with written notes.
The shawl uses approx 1000-1200m of a heavy fingering weight, or a less of a light fingering, and the mesh can be extended to use more.
