Product Details
Aquitaine is a crescent-shape garter stitch shawl, knit from one skein of gorgeously soft merino yarn. It features an interesting drop-stitch wave pattern that results in a beautiful rippled texture.
Yarn 1 skein Atelier White Gum DK (258 yards 100g) Ethical Superfine Australian Merino. Hand Dyed In Sydney, Australia.
Needles & notions 5mm (US 8) circular needle, 30 to 40 inches long; Stitch markers; Tapestry needle.
Gauge 14 stitches x 34 rows = 4 inches on 5mm needles in garter stitch after blocking Gauge is not crucial to the finished shawl but a different gauge may change the finished size and yardage needed.
Construction The shawl is knitted top down, beginning with a garter tab cast on. Rapid increases create a wide shallow curve for the main garter body. A drop-stitch wave pattern and garter edge continue on from the garter body. A stretchy cast off / bind off finishes the shawl, allowing the shawl to block out beautifully.
