Product Details
Echidnas are the oldest surviving mammal on the planet today.
Echidnas are found all over Australia including regions of rainforest, dry sclerophyll forest and arid zones. Echidnas are capable swimmers. When swimming, they expose their snout and some of their spines.
Although echidnas are seldom encountered, they are widespread and classified as ‘common’.
The echidnas are named after Echidna, a creature from Greek mythology who was half-woman, half-snake, as the animal was perceived to have qualities of both mammals and reptiles.
They are egg laying mammals, which is pretty special.
