Basilan is the second shawl of my series on the theme of Pacific’s light (first one: Upolu). It reflects the deep orange light of the sky at the end of the day, or the full sun itself at noon. This kind of deep bright light is lovely, warm and slightly melancholic because it often occurs at the end of something, the morning or the day.
I have chosen to design a very large shawl in which you would like to wrap yourself when looking for comfort and dreaming of the sunny areas around the world.
Basilan is a triangular shawl, slightly asymmetrical, worked flat from one point to the other. It is a succession of garter stitches bands and easy pattern bands finished with lace. The instructions are given row by row, and charts are added. A beginner could make most of the work, however the lace portion is slightly more advanced. An alternative easy edging is proposed.
