I came up with these gloves when the well-known phrase drifted into my mind “be careful not to twist”. So what if I twisted anyway? I got lovely fingerless gloves. The interesting part is the decoration at the back of the hand: A twisted band is inserted, set off by a ridge on either side of the band. The band has different textures on front and back to emphasize the nifty construction. The gloves are worked sideways and seamed invisibly. They are worked in one piece, that is, both the twisted band and the thumbs are made as you go along. The thumb is formed by short rows, with a crocheted seam, the rest of the mitten is worked in comfortable stretchy ribs. This way, the fingerless gloves fit more than one size. They are easy to adjust in width by working more or fewer rows.
