## Brading Cowl ##

(Suitable for a Very Confident Beginner or Intermediate Knitter.)

The Brading Cowl was inspired by the Roman Villa that has been excavated at Brading on the Isle of Wight.

Knitted on straight needles, turning after every row, it is gently shaped by increasing the needle sizes rather than the stitches. It is bound off with an integrated picot edging. The two short edges are then sewn together to form the piece into a circle.
Ideal for those knitters who do not like working on circular or double pointed needles.

Using two different weight yarns (DK and 3 ply) accentuates the soft ridging and gives a cosy but light feel to the Cowl, making it lovely to wear. It is shaped so that it lays flat across the shoulders and sits nicely under a jacket or coat.

Example pictured was made using approx 200 yards of Marble DK by James Brett and approx 100 yards of Premium Angora by Ice Yarns.
