Briarfield is designed for cosy DK-weight yarn, so it's a much quicker knit than all the fingering/4 ply options out there.
My sample is knit in Patons Extrafine Merino yarn, an affordable option for garment knitting. I think it would also look great in a more traditional woolly wool, which would show the colourwork to best effect. For added impact, why not use several different contrast colours in the yoke?
