Product Details
Have you ever seen the video of David Bowie being questioned about his choice of shoes during a TV interview? When asked “are those men’s shoes or women’s shoes or bisexual shoes?” the wonderful human simply said “they’re shoe shoes, silly!” I think that one sentence perfectly sums up everything I adored about Bowie and what he gave to the world. He was never interested in attaching labels to himself or trying to define himself for anyone else’s sake. He was just who he was.
Whoever you are and whatever kind of shoes (or socks) you like to wear, I hope you enjoy knitting the Brixton socks - a design inspired by the iconic photo on Bowie’s Aladdin Sane album cover. The pattern is written for working toe up, but could easily be modified for top-down knitting. The pattern also includes full detailed instructions on how to work a German short row heel along the way but this can also easily be substituted by an alternative heel, if you would prefer.
