Product Details
A basic poncho is easy to knit - just 2 rectangles stitched together on 2 sides. This pattern takes it a step further, adding a deep front pocket, neckline finish & armhole cuffs.
This poncho features panels of seed stitch, cable and stockinette. Design your own by choosing from 5 different cables and 4 neckline finishes.
A poncho is not a fitted garment - the same one can fit a range of sizes. This pattern has 2 sizes. LARGE fits bust sizes 40" to 46". X-LARGE fits bust sizes 46" to 50". There’s an overlap in the size range depending one how snug you’d want it to fit, or if you’ll be wearing it over a heavy sweater.
I prefer plain plied yarns for the cables, letting the stitch pattern provide the textural interest. I’ve deliberately used inexpensive Red Heart Supersaver and Caron One Pound acrylic yarns for the samples, showing a striking garment can be made without great cost. For a luxurious poncho, more expensive fibers (wool, etc.) with a gauge of 16 sts = 4"/10cm can be substituted.
