Product Details
Caliphe Socks are worked from the cuff down in the round, but the instep, toe, sole and heel are knitted back and forth in rows.
Socks begin with the Channel Island Cast-On for a very decorative and elastic edge, then the cuff is worked in the round. The leg is then also worked in the round in mosaic knitting, using two different colours of yarn. Upon completing that part of the sock, half of the stitches are held to be joined later to the heel. The instep is worked back and forth in rows in pattern as set with selvedge stitches at each end of it. Then the toe is shaped using German short rows. The sole is then worked while joining to the instep at the same time. The heel is shaped using the same short row technique as for the toe, and it is joined to the back of the leg stitches on hold by using the Kitchener stitch.
Gauge: 37.25 sts and 52 rows over Stocking st = 10 cm / 4”, worked on size 2.25 mm / US 1 ndls back and forth.
