Because I’m a complete klutz when it comes to fashionable processes such as tying scarves, the simplicity of a keyhole scarf - slip the end through the loop and voila! - is extremely appealing to me. Unfortunately, I’ve always found the typical construction of a keyhole scarf to be somewhat fiddly and annoying. Thus, when the concept of the lengthwise knitted keyhole scarf with double-knitted loop sections came to me fully formed it was all I could do not to toss aside my current project and cast on a sample scarf right away.
The pattern name comes from the Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon is waiting to find out whether he has won the Nobel prize. Some of his colleagues comment that Sheldon is weird; President Siebert corrects them, saying “We prefer to call it ‘quirky.’” As I have always been considered somewhat weird by friends and relatives, I like the term “quirky” much better.
