"Carolingian Cross" is knit in one piece from the center out, from an entrelac start to a knitted-on border. Short rows are employed to create part of the motif, and extensive written, charted, and photographic instructions are employed to walk you through the pattern. To make a larger blanket for a child, use about 1200 yards of a worsted weight yarn and US8/5mm needles.
