Product Details
Cerchi nell’acqua (water rings) is a top down sweater with modified drop shoulder. While top down construction is usually associated with raglan sweaters, it is fairly easy to built any type of sweater with this method. Drop shoulders and modified drop shoulders are created by casting on first the back and front sections and knitting downwards to the end of the sleeve opening, then the sleeves are picked up along the edge and knitted downwards in the round and the body is knitted downwards in the round as well. Also, in this pattern the sleeves are shaped along the outer side, to grant better vestibility.
For Cerchi nell’acqua I used Borgo de’ Pazzi’s Amore 160, an extremely light and warm recycled merino wool yarn. A small amount of synthetic gives this yarn strength, while the merino gives it volume and softness. The result is a yarn with an incredible productivity: for a large size sweater I only used slightly more than 250 grams of wool.
