Coat with parrots

In a store, I came across the colour gradient yarn Brio by the French company DMC that has been in business for over 250 years. The yarn reminded me of the lovebirds. Right then and there, a plan formed in my head to use this yarn to knit a little coat with those birds on it for my grandchild.I knitted the coat in rounds with a round yoke. For the jacquard pattern to only be knitted in the knit-rows, I worked in a steek in between the edges of the jacket at the front. This will later be cut open and folded over. I knitted the cuffs and the hems in a herringbone stitch because it reminds me of raffia mats in the tropics and fits with the exotic birds. In order to knit five complete repeats with the canary birds, I decided to knit a coat that works well during the transitioning time. It’s also possible to knit only two repeats of the bird pattern for the bodice and have a shorter jacket as the end result.
