I really like some of the old-time lace edging patterns and stitches used in the old-time table cloth patterns. The edging for this shawl comes from that tradition. Begin by using a provisional cast-on and work the lace border. I’ve added dangles to dress up the edge while working the crochet bind off. Then remove the provisional cast-on, and work in stockinette with eyelet edging above the border and at the final bind-off edge. Short-rows are used to create the wedge shape, along with increases at the beginning of RS rows.
The dangles can be omitted if you don't want to add them, and the bind off can be worked knitwise (instructions are included in the pattern).
