Product Details

Yarn available direct from spinners at www.newlanarkshop.co.uk and support historic mill village.

Although specifically designed with the men folk in mind, an oversize version could suit anyone. No particular skills are required here. The stitch used is very simple but that makes it easy to “drift off” and absent-mindedly slip into moss stitch, so do keep checking. The body is knitted in one piece to the armholes and incorporates the pockets, the tops being added later and are simply the reverse side of Woven Stitch. The pockets are partially lined in fabric – Dupion tartan silk was used in the sample garment – to reduce the risk of spoiling the line of the waistcoat by pocket contents. The edgings are sew on the wrong side - this becomes the right side for the lapels and so take special care here - which is a technique very familiar to machine knitters. Between the texture of the Woven Stitch and the lovely Donegal Silk Tweed yarn, this elegant waistcoat should be a winner for anyone.
