Product Details
This is the first time I’ve hosted a contest to name a pattern. The winner, Ruth, suggested Cross Gartered, a reference to Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, when Olivia tricks Malvolio into believing that she loves him and wants to see him in cross-gartered stockings. As soon as I saw it, I knew that Cross Gartered was meant to be the name of these socks.
Cross Gartered is worked toe-up and features a braided pattern that is worked just before the cuff (after most of the sock is finished). A link to a video demonstration of the braid technique is included in the pattern.
This sock features a forethought heel with optional short-row gussets. Instructions are written-only (no charts) and needle-neutral so you can use your preferred method for working in the round.
