Product Details
Here in the United States, I look forward to the Kentucky Derby every year, where the horses "run for the roses." I designed this hat made out of sturdy worsted/Aran weight kitchen cotton yarn, the type used to make dishcloths and towels. The gauge is 4 stitches to an inch.
The body of the hat is a type of lace I call "Ziggy Zaggy Lace" and the rest of the hat is knit with twisted knit stitches, achieved by knitting in the back loop of the stitch instead of the front loop. After completing the body of the hat, you'll pick up stitches to work the brim, also in-the-round. If you like, you can keep this as a floppy brim hat, but I include instructions for attaching hat brim wire around the edge to provide a pliable brim you can bend to fit your style.
If you're just looking to make a lovely Spring or Summer hat, you can select the color, ribbon, flower and other embellishments you choose.
As always, I'm here to help if you need me.
