When I am at the ocean, my arms are stretched open, my eyes are closed, and as I feel the breeze on my face, I immediately feel like I am home. It’s an amazing feeling. The ocean is a strong influence on my designs. I created the Driftwood Waves Hat to be the perfect companion for the Driftwood Waves Cowl. Both are light weight and ideal for spring weather and cool evenings. This hat features the beautiful Cresting Waves Lace pattern, which is based off the reverse (wrong side) of the Eyelets and Waves stitch pattern. Although the original lace was written for flat knitting, I converted the reverse side to circular knitting, and in the process created two original stitches to get the perfect wavy look. I hope you enjoy creating your own Driftwood Waves Hat, and wear it on long walks by the ocean.
