Product Details
These two contoured snakes are nice and easy to knit. Our technique is going to involve “slipping” some stitches instead of knitting them. This makes one side of the work shorter than the other so that it curls, giving us curvy snakes instead of straight ones.
Size: From head to tail, the snakes are approx. 35cm (13¾in)
Difficulty: Easy
Stitches used: kfb [knit into front and back], k2tog [knit 2 together], slip 1 [slide a stitch from left to right needle without knitting or purling]
You will need:
• Green wool (max 25g), plus a small amount of pink for the tongue. I used Double Knit [8-6 ply, “light worsted”.] Tension square: 10cm x 10cm square is 24 stitches across and 32 rows.
• Knitting needles – I used UK size 11 [3.0mm, US size 2.5]
• For the forked tongue, I used thinner needles, UK size 14 [2.0mm, US size 0]
• Tapestry needle
• Tiny little bit of black or dark brown wool to stitch the eyes
• Small amount of stuffing
