Product Details
A thrum is a small loop of roving that is knit into your project at regular intervals. Thrums create a super warm and soft inner to your tea-cosy, guaranteed to keep your brew piping hot! The technique is said to originate in Canada’s coldest places such as New Foundland and Labrador.
The Fandabbydosey Cosy is suitable for those new to the thrumming technique as it was designed as a teaching pattern for use in a workshop situation. There are written and charted instructions as well as 3 photo tutorials:
- Preparation of roving using a 50 g assorted pack of 5 colours.
- Making thrums.
- Knit in a thrum.
The sample used a 50g pack of roving. (10g in each of 5 colours) Options at Loveknitting include:
- Clover Assortment (80g - 20g in each of 4 colours. Work cosy in 4 colours and purchase one additional Clover colour.)
- Rico Assortment (Work cosy in a rainbow of colours.)
