THIS PATTERN IS IN LVA FORMAT with 22-24 point Font size, black text, no italics, sans serif, and fully written directions. There is an enlarged chart included, but it is not necessary to work the pattern.
This hat is part of The Fir Tree Suite, which has matching mitts and cowl. It's a fairly straightforward knit with 1/1 cables and twisted stitches for the fir tree motif, making it suitable for a first time cable knitter. This can be worked up with either a long folded brim, or a short beanie type brim, depending on preference and yarn available. This pattern calls for a light worsted weight yarn, such as Debbie Biss Cashmerino Aran, or Ella Rae Superwash Classic (used in sample pictures), to give a gauge of approximately 20 stitches for 4 inches in stockinette in the round. The chart has completely written out line by line instructions.
