Product Details
Sample shown knit in Knitpicks City Tweed HW.
A soft, cabled sweater is a wardobe staple for many knitters. This is a traditional aran sweater with subtle modern touches. Decreases are worked between cables so that the cables converge to narrow at the waist, and widen at the bust and hips, for a flattering hourglass shape. Fitted, set-in sleeves, and a shawl collar with a collar stand, provide a tailored look that distinguishes this coat from the traditional aran.
The sweater is worked, flat, in pieces, from the bottom up. Fronts, back, sleeves, and collar stand are knit separately and then assembled. The front band and collar are picked up and knit afterwards.
The sweater is named after Galt, Ontario. My home. This is an old city, built on the banks of the Grand river, by Scottish stonemasons. Its beautiful and timeless stonework is mirrored in the distinct cables of this timeless garment.
