Hand-dyed yarn has a special pull to it when seen and held at the store, but once home, I often find myself unsure what to work up with it, as an intricate pattern would get lost in the color variations, and while we all love garter stitch shawls sometimes something a little bit more challenging is needed.
Glass ripples is workable in any yarn weight, numbers given below are just an estimate. Work it as large as you want, at a gauge that feels comfortable to you. Fingering US 4 (3.5 mm) [24 sts = 4”] 400 yds (366m)
Sport US 5 (3.75 mm) [24 sts = 4”] 400 yds (366m)
DK US 6 (4 mm) [22 sts =4”] 500 yds (457m)
Worsted US 7 (4.5 mm) [20 sts = 4”] 450 yds (412m)
Aran US 8 (5 mm) [20 sts = 4”] 450 yds (412m)
Bulky US 9 (5.5 mm) [16 sts = 4”] 350 yds (320m)
Pattern was originally published in the April 2019 Knotions edition.
As always a big thank you to my test knitters.
