Product Details
This was my very first attempt at sock design, and it's still one of my favourite patterns.
This sock is knit with fingering weight yarn from the cuff down on double-pointed or circular needles using a charted stitch pattern adapted from a Japanese stitch dictionary. The lace panels create a slight pull on the cables in between them, which reminds me of a summer breeze on the fields that are found in green, green Normandy, which I was lucky enough to call home for four years. The cables run from the cuff all the way down through the heel and are a great opportunity to practice cabling without a cable needle.
The pattern, knit to the specified gauge of 8.5 sts/inch/2.5cm produces a size Large measuring 8"/20cm unstretched around the leg. This a stretchy sock, so sizing for a smaller leg is achieved through yarn choice (light fingering vs. fingering) and needle sizes.
