A modern version of a crocheted visor hat as seen in Greek tradition
This hat was inspired by the tradional Greek Fisherman Cap which has become popular agan and can be seen around the city. Just like the original Greek model, my piece has two decorative buttons at the sides of the visor. Instead of the braid above the visor, I opted for a more rock ‘n’ roll look – two lines of metal chain stretch above and below the peak and go around the buttons.
The hat is completed in rounds, in 3 stages by holding 2 strands of yarn together.
1. The top of the hat is crocheted in a circle using color A. The last round of done with contrasting yarn – color B.
2. Crocheted in rounds, the crown of the hat is made with color A again and it is gradually decreased to fit the head measurements. The last 2 rounds of the crown are made by crocheting dc and using color B.
3. The visor is crocheted in turns using sc.
The hat is decorated with 2 buttons on each side of the visor and a chain.
