I knit several prototypes of this hat, and my musician husband kept commenting on how much the pattern looked like guitar trim. (The trim is called herringbone.) I happily gave in to his suggestion. If you have a guitar aficionado in your life, knit one with an ebony/ivory band on woodtone/brown! I made one in natural alpaca shades which worked well.
