Product Details

In the southern United States, gullywasher is a term for a sudden and intense, but usually brief, downpour of rain. This shawl begins at the right-hand tip and increases rather quickly with yarnovers at the beginning and end of every row, while a decrease in the center of every right-side row forces the garter stitch portion to slant. Sporadic eyelet rows in the garter stitch mimic raindrops falling and pooling into a lacy wave pattern in the lower portion of the shawl. Once the full width is reached, the waves start to decrease again, while the garter stitch continues to grow. When only two stitches remain of the lace portion, all stitches are bound off along the lower left edge of the shawl.
