Product Details

Harakeke is the Maori word for flax. Flax grows in smooth strong points and is often a deep, glossy green shot through with gold or red.

This bonnet is worked in one piece, with shaping created by working short rows. The back of the bonnet is wide to allow tiny babies to lie flat without having any ridges or bumps behind their head. I-cord edging stabilises the stocking stitch fabric and creates a neat, simple edge. You could work the ties in i-cord to match if you prefer that to ribbon closures.

Sample shown is the newborn size worn by a 2 week old baby.
