Product Details
The first of my Garters and Lace collection, this is a great hat for beginners who want to get a little fancy. It’s mostly garter stitch with just a pop of lace, and the charts are written out so you can knit a quick hat and learn to read lace charts at the same time! Pick a solid or heathered yarn to show stitch definition, settle in with tea and Netflix, and give Hickory a try!
To knit this hat, you will need: Approximately 175-225 metres/191-246 yards of worsted weight yarn (I used Alpakka Ull in the sample) 3.5 mm circular needles with a 40 cm/16 inch cable (size 4 US) 4.5 mm circular needles with a 40 cm/16 inch cable (size 7 US) or size to obtain gauge 4.5 mm dpns (size 7 US) Cable needle in similar size to working needle, or spare dpn Stitch markers Crochet hook Tapestry needle
Gauge: 18 stitches/20 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in garter stitch on 4.5 mm needles
Required Skills: knit, purl, yarnover, left- and right-leaning knit decrease, centered double decrease, making bobbles, cabling
