The Hihiko Hat (Maori for speed, swiftness) like its namesake, is a quick and breezy hat that can be knit in a day or two! The sister pattern to the Huatau Hat, this beanie can be knit up in just one skein of Quince & Co’s. Chickadee yarn. The hat features an intricate Japanese lace paneling that shapes into a star formation at the crown.
Needle: US size 5 (3.5mm) and size 7 (4.0mm) 16” (40cm) circular needle and size 7 (4.0mm) DPNs or size to obtain gauge.
Yarns Used: Quince and Co. Chickadee (Sport/5 ply; 100% Wool; 181 yards/50 grams). 1 skein used in the color way Delft.
Yardage: 170-181 yards.
Gauge: 21 sts (one lace repeat) over 3.5”/9cm or 24 sts and 38 rows over 4”/10cm in lace pattern.
