Product Details
The Hutu Scarf is the product of a collaboration between myself and my husband. My husband was the main driving force behind envisioning the shape, design and yarns while I knit the final product and designed the main motif. The motif of the scarf is based off of Māori tāniko designs, which heavily feature oscillating triangular and diamond shapes. The scarf starts off with a wide brim, which tapers in the middle, before growing out again at the end. This is not a complicated pattern, with miles and miles of garter stitch with I-cord edgings to accent the sides, with some simple striping and a mixture of knit and purl stitches for the center panel. Add fringes at the end for the final touches, if you wish. Hutu is Māori for “suit”, making it the perfect accessory for any man’s wardrobe (or anyone who wears suits!), but it is also casual enough for everyday wear. What will you wear with it?
