Product Details
This shallow shaped shawlette would not be warm enough to visit Violette Island, named after the admiral Louis Violette. It is located in the Kerguelen archipelago, well known to be cold.
However Ile Violette is well appropriate to our milder climate. The construction is easy and fun. It starts with a long band of lace on which you will pick stitches to build the body of the shawl. Few short rows later the shawl will be finished. Note that two strands are used together throughout: two lace strands for the lace edging; one lace and one mohaire strand for the body. Metric and Imperial measures.
GaugeSquare 4 “ x 4 “ (10 cm x 10 cm): 13 sts x 48 rows worked in garter stitch with the US 7 / 4.5 mm needle, washed and blocked. The lace motif (worked accordingly to chart 1) measures 1½ in / 4 cm x 4¼ in / 11 cm. However the gauge is flexible for this pattern. Just adapt the yardage.
This small shawlette, so easy to wear and so quick to work would be a perfect gift for christmas.
