This shawl was designed to use up lots of oddments of yarn. It needs two contrasting groups of colours. If you prefer, you can use two ‘normal’ plain yarns or either one or two variegated yarns. You will need approximately 450 metres (500 yards) of bright and the same of dark, with extra for the border.
When you look straight at the knitting you only see stripes. The criss-cross pattern is revealed when you look from the side.
Illusion knitting is not difficult. It is just like knitting stripes.
