Victorian headgear is fabulous--the fascinators, the hats, the flowers, and the headwraps (although technically Jane Austen is pre-Victorian, see the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility if you don't know what I'm talking about!). It's hard to get away with fascinators and the like unless you're going to a British wedding. So I've restyled the idea as a wide, lace hairwrap—much more modern and much more fun. I made the Irish Rose Hair Wrap is made of yarn that is a combination of bamboo and silk (the aptly named Paton’s Silk Bamboo). The silk makes it incredibly soft while the bamboo makes it lightweight--the perfect spring accessory. You won't feel hot or uncomfortable while wearing it, and the smoothness of the silk won't leave you with messy hair when you take it off. The headband itself is made in a delicate, lacy pattern that swoops in at the ends. There is a cord at either end that is used to tie it around your head.
