Joie Hooded Scarf

My friend asked whether I could knit her a scarf with a hood, and brought me a cake of self-striping yarn in colors that she liked. Since all of the patterns I had seen involved knitting the hood and the scarf separately and sewing them together which would have completely disrupted the continuity of the self-striping yarn she chose, I decided to design a hooded scarf which was knitted in one piece, with short rows to shape the hood and the single back seam bound off rather than sewn.
