The Junior Constant Companion is the perfect every day cardigan for little ones. This cardigan has been designed to match the popular adult cardigan pattern, Constant Companion, so that all age groups can have their own constant companion!
The cardigan is very easy to knit and comfy to wear, featuring a Fair Isle motif around the yoke for added detail.
The body is knitted in one piece back and forth from the bottom up until the armholes; then the sleeves are knitted in round to the same point; and the pieces are joined together to work the Fair Isle yoke. A steek is added at the beginning of the Fair Isle section in order for the yoke to be worked in the round. After cutting the steek, stitches are picked up to work the button bands. The yoke is a great introduction to learning how to do stranded colour work and of course, how to work a steek. If you would prefer not to work a steek, the cardigan yoke can be knitted back and forth instead with alternate rows purled instead of knitted.
