“Kimihia te kahurangi; ki te piko toou maatenga, ki te maunga teitei”. Seek above all that which is of highest value; if you bow, let it be to the highest mountain. - Maori Proverb
The inspiration for this piece was an emerald, a highly valued gemstone, as reflected through the sharp geometric lines of the lace pattern. The proverb teaches one to choose a high goal and not to be deterred by anything of lesser importance. As Mystics who knit as a form of self-care, I believe that one of the best ways of self-care is acknowledging one’s self-worth and value.
We often are too scared to dream big - as in really dream big - because since childhood society taught us that we are not enough to even dare entertain the thought.
But we are far more precious than emeralds and other gemstones. And we are enough.
