Product Details
Kandaki is based on a leaf pattern but to make it more interesting, the leaf panels are separated by background lines. The leaf pattern is not totally intuitive, it doesn’t flow on its own and this makes knitting more challenging and satistfying.
I wanted Kandaki to be a pattern for every season, the leaf pattern is a perfect choice for a summer shawl, yet the lace is not too open which makes it suitable for a warm winter wrap as well.
Size - the pattern is easily adjustable in size by adding more repeats of the leaf pattern. You can also vary the number of background line sections.Yarn - the shawl can be done in cake yarn or in a tonal or solid colour. The point is not to choose yarn where colours change too often so as not to obsure the lace pattern.
Needles should be adapted to the yarn used and the degree of lacy effect that you desire to achieve. I suggest you knit Kandaki to a moderate tension, neither too loose nor too tight.
