I thought I should do a free pattern for Christmas, so I made this little angel. I made a similar one a few years ago but I have reworked it so it is easier to make and given her some knitting to do (all angels knit, don't they?). She could also be a fairy for the Christmas tree if you left off the halo. The pattern is adaptable to all sorts of different yarns and only takes scraps to make. Knitting is easy and has instructions on how to make i-cords.
I made two recently: the lavender one is made of Patons”Flair” mohair type yarn for the dress, OnLine “Como” for the wings, and 8 ply/DK for the head and limbs. the white one with yellow hair has Moda Vera “Wisp” for her dress, Patons “Feathers” for wings and “Paume” organic cotton for head etc.
The older one without knitting (must have left it on the bus…) has an Online “Picnic” dress with RichMore “Primrose” wings and a perle cotton for skin.
They are great fun to make – I hope you enjoy them too – Happy Christmas!
