Product Details
This is a pattern for a knit wrap pattern that features several Estonian stitches, both gathered and lace, combined in a beautiful wrap. However, I have modified the edging, so that it is knitted on, which is way most of use are used to adding out edging. There are also instructions contained within the pattern for an optional crocheted edging. I have also used a much heavier yarn than the traditional Estonian shawls do. This can be knit using a heavy fingering weight, or light sport weight yarn.
This pattern is similar to my Damask Shawl pattern, utilizing gathered stitches, but this one has the nupps that are traditionally, Estonian.
Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).
The pattern for all the stitches are both charted and written out line by line, however, it is helpful if you can read charts.
Any heavy weight fingering or sport weight yarn will work for this pattern. No crochet hooks needed if you don't want to edge the shawl.
