For the Ladder of Life scarf, the overlay mosaic technique is used. Even though mosaic crochet may look complicated, it really isn't. In fact, it's a surprisingly simple way to create colorful patterns using multiple colors.
A mosaic pattern consists only of single crochets and double crochets. Sounds simple, right?
For this scarf, each row is crocheted from right to left, and you attach a new yarn strand at the beginning of each row. The loose ends of these strands are used to create fringes.
Is mosaic crochet new to you? Don't worry. This pattern includes a photo tutorial that explains the mosaic technique step by step.
The scarf I crocheted measures approximately 30 x 190 cm (including fringes). The pattern clearly describes how to adjust it to any desired size.
My scarf was crocheted using Cotton Kings - Sultan Solid (100% cotton) and a 3.5 mm (US E-4) crochet hook. However, you can use any yarn you prefer.
