It would be difficult for a beginner. It's easy to drop stitches. I knitted it on 9 dpns, (wanted a bigger lamb and never really mastered the mattress stitch ) and at one point the yarn broke. Had to make sure that I tied off the ends. But the lamb came out beautifully. This will be my future new baby gift. The next one will be done on 8's, as the pattern suggested.
