Scribble in the sand with this great slouchy hat done with twisted rib, eyelets and reverse stockinette. The color I used reminded me of the sand as I was working it up. The twisted rib is continued through the decrease section, adding extra interest to the highly visible crown.
Pattern includes chart and written directions for the pattern stitch. The pattern itself is written out.
I used about a skein and a half of the Birch for the sample.
The brim of the hat is knit small to account for the amount of stretching out the sample cotton yarn would do on a bigger head. Take that into consideration if you choose a yarn with more elasticity, such as wool. You might consider using needles one size apart rather than two.
Three pattern stitch repeats got me to about 7”, which works if you’d like a less slouchy hat. Pattern is written for four, which came to 9".
