Thanks to Candigirl429 for her excellent name suggestion of Liz Christy. Here's what she had to say about the name:
Liz Christy after the founder of the community garden in Manhattan. Liz Christy would toss seed grenades-balloons filled with wildflower seeds and fertilizer- into New York City’s garbage-strewn vacant lots to see what would grow. She was a founder of the Green Guerillas.
The Liz Christy Shawl is a top down, two-color half-pi shawl. I recommend solid/near solid yarn for the MC. CC can be slightly variegated or tonal, but I don't recommend highly variegated yarns for this pattern.
There are large sections of each color so if your colors look good together in the skein, they will also look good in this pattern. If you prefer single color shawls, this will also look lovely in one color.
Yarn consumption vares and you should always allow extra yarn. It is important to obtain gauge to avoid running out of yarn and to have your finished shawl match the size indicated. Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain gauge. The gauge given is blocked gauge.
Pattern contains charts and written instructions.
The samples are shown in Dragonfly Fibers Pixie. A substitute is shown below.
