Product Details
Most people have heard of Fibonacci Numbers. This baby blanket uses Lucas Numbers, which have some advantages over Fibonacci when used for any kind of craft work.
The blanket in the photos used six colours of DK yarn and measures 76 cm (30”) by 90 cm (36”). Each square is 15 cm (6”) so you can increase the size of the blanket in 6-inch jumps if you want a bigger blanket.
It used 150 metres of each colour. It is made in one piece using mitred squares. Stitches are picked up from previous squares and there are never more than 56 stitches on your needle, except for the edging where you need a small amount of contrast yarn and, possibly, a longer needle.
The pattern explains how to calculate the amount of yarn you need for a bigger blanket or for a different yarn. It also includes several variations of the design and another design using a 10-inch square.
