Product Details

Madeline was designed to make the most of one skein of hand-dyed yarn. The loose gauge creates a fabric with drape even when using a tightly spun sock yarn. The work begins at the upper right corner and gradually increases to the left edge. A simple lace edging is worked along with the body of the shawl and curves around to finish the bound off edge. The instructions are both written and charted.

More substantial than a scarf but small for a shawl, the asymmetrical triangle shape can be worn wrapped around the neck or draped across the shoulders. The slightly irregular gauge of this piece is created by the bias slant of the fabric and should be measured in pattern. Although gauge is not crucial, it will affect the finished size and amount of yarn used. A looser gauge will make a larger shawl and use more yarn, while a tighter gauge will make a smaller shawl and use less yarn.
