Inspiration
The shawl is inspired by Tatyana Larina - the main female character in Eugene Onegin by Pushkin. My inspiration came when during Christmas fair I saw for the first time the undyed Dundaga wool from black sheep, it gave the feeling of being brutally honest, being yourself without remorse or holding back. Instantly I saw Tatyana in my mind, such a strong connection. I also wanted to show her opposite nature - gentle, nature loving, refined. So I paired rustic untreated wool with Merino Single Sock beautifully hand dyed by Kristīne from Maruma Yarns in gentle pale pink color. The lace evolves in complexity as does the Tatyana’s character during the book, losing some of her provincial charm and gaining aristocratic refinement and calm.
ConstructionThe shawl is semi circle in shape and is made by half-pi shawl formula by Elizabeth Zimmerman with small adjustments along the way.
