Product Details
From my visit to Shetland, I had three vivid memories that stuck with me; the softly undulating treeless but verdant lands, the beautiful sheep with their great variety of natural colours, and this lovely little traditional cockle shell pattern.
The cockle shell is an old and well loved pattern from Shetland, but is mostly used in rectangular scarves and stoles. Here I have modified the pattern to accommodate for the decreases and symmetry of a triangular shawl.
Construction: bottom-up triangular/heart-shaped. Cast on by knitting a sideways lace edging, rather than beginning by casting on 381 stitches.
