Interested in trying out a new sock construction?
The Moonlit Garden Sock features a stranded "knotted box" lace pattern over the leg and upper foot only, with stocking stitch across the sole. To achieve the sole/insole join, two sets of stitches are prepared (knit sts or crocheted single-chain loops along the insole sides) and stitches along the heel flap and heel. These are gradually knitted together flat, at the same time shaping the gusset. The toe is shaped traditionally and grafted with the Kitchener stitch grafting technique. Instructions are given for both double-pointed needles and Magic Loop circular needles.
Hand-dyed yarns used in pattern: (MC) Forest Fringe 80/20 Sock - stormy skies; (CC) Lichen and Lace 80/20 Sock - pewter.
Gauge (after blocking): 28 sts and 40 rows to 10 cm/4 in measured over st st using 2.75 mm (US 2.0) needle.
Sock sample shown in size M, with negative ease of approximately 1.5 cm/0.5 in.
